Are you sitting comfortably? Then we’ll begin.

For no reason other than the lightening of the day and the warming of the heart we present this, a letter written by Michael Bond from Paddington Bear to his Aunt Lucy, concerning Christmas with the Brown family.

It was read out on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme this morning by Hugh Bonneville (Mr Brown in the Paddington movie, as well as being that guy from that stately home programme set in Downton Abbey. I forget the name) and it’s just a very sweet little moment, made all the sweeter by the inclusion of marmalade sandwiches.

You can find the full transcript at the BBC Radio 4 Today site, should you wish to read it to anyone small and delightable in your immediate vicinity.

Paddington comes to U.S. theatres on January 16.
