We are way past the point at which it is a fresh observation to note that Sir Ian McKellen makes being Sir Ian McKellen look like a LOT of fun. He pops up hither and yon—sometimes with his old mucker Sir Patrick Stewart, sometimes solo—constantly playing with his reputation as a po-faced thespian with evident glee. And here’s yet another example (and a timely one, given Daniel Radcliffe’s recent antics on Fallon).

It’s just a pop video, for Brit singer-songwriter George Ezra’s “Listen to the Man,” taken from his British-chart-topping album Wanted On Voyage. And the concept is familiar to older viewers who may remember Chevy Chase’s star turn in the video for “You Can Call Me Al” by Paul Simon, and yet it is all charm:

You watch, we’ll have Maggie Smith dancing with Taylor Swift before the year is out.
