When it comes to the flow of language between Britain and America, some phrases travel better than others, and the ones that have a sexual double meaning often travel the least well of all.

And if you don’t believe me, ask a British person to help you find something in your fanny pack and see the confusion dance across their face.

So, you have to have a certain amount of sympathy for Good Morning Britain’s presenter Susanna Reid, when she was asking Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens how he managed to secure his latest role in The Guest, when the part calls for an American and he is not an American.

It happens at about the 1:45 mark, and you definitely won’t miss it. Nor, for that matter, did Dan:
