Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan star in Outlander. (Starz)

As the saying goes: “Real men wear kilts.” Starz’s original series Outlander, based in both 20th and 18th century Scotland, revolves around romance, time travel, and combat … with one of the best takeaways being all the kilt-wearing warriors.

Prince Charles the Prince of Wales wears a Stewart Ancient Colours kilt as he visits Queens Cross Church in Aberdeen, Scotland Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002. He likes organic farming and hunting with hounds, but doesn't like modern architecture.
