After a year-long hiatus, George Michael has reached out to fans via Twitter. (Twitter)

The last time we heard from singer George Michael via Twitter was on January 25 … of last year. He was talking about the snow in England and getting into the recording studio.

Here’s his last tweet before going off-the-grid:

He broke his Twitter silence yesterday with a Happy New Year tweet:

Don’t you just love being called “Lovelie”? He followed up his good wishes with a humbled apology for possibly worrying his fans and Twitter followers:

He’s looking forward to moving forward into the New Year and leaving 2013 behind, which included a terrifying car accident:

In addition to his apology George has sent a gift:

It turns out he has been busy in the studio and will be releasing his new album, “Symphonica”, on March 17, 2014:

Oh, George. Sometimes you just need some “me” time. We get it. There are no apologies necessary but we appreciate the sentiment.
