On Tuesday (October 15), the first cast photos from the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special were released, and now we’ve received our next helping of Whovian delights. An Adventure in Space and Time, a period film about the team behind Doctor Who‘s creation back in the early ’60s, is set to make its bow on BBC AMERICA next month, and the channel has released stills featuring star David Bradley showing his uncanny resemblance to First Doctor William Hartnell alongside actors playing the Doctor’s first companions. There are also snaps of Jessica Raine (star of Call the Midwife and Doctor Who‘s “Hide”) as original producer Verity Lambert; Brian Cox as BBC’s gruff Head of Drama Sydney Newman and Sacha Dhawan as Waris Hussein, the director of the series’ first episode, “An Unearthly Child.” Written by Doctor Who and Sherlock actor/writer Mark Gatiss, An Adventure is a wonderful valentine to the series and a lushly crafted re-creation of vintage BBC, and the photos below provide a hint at the meticulous detail that went into the film.
