LOOK: Benedict Cumberbatch and Peter Capaldi in ‘The Fifth Estate’
While all Benedict Cumberbatch-fan eyes are on Cardiff and London as the Sherlock star films the final episode of the show’s upcoming third season, some new photos have just been released from his turn as Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in the upcoming biopic-thriller The Fifth Estate.
The pictures, which show off among other things the dramatic blond hairstyle Cumberbatch sports in the film, will surely grab even more geek curiosity for the inclusion of Peter Capaldi. The recently-announced Twelfth Doctor plays Alan Rusbridger, the editor of U.K. newspaper The Guardian, alongside Dan Stevens of Downton Abbey as reporter Ian Katz.
The film, which also stars Daniel Brühl, Laura Linney and Stanley Tucci, is released in the U.S. on October 18. Assange himself had previously expressed distaste for the biopic, calling it “a massive propaganda attack on WikiLeaks and the character of my staff”, but according to reports earlier this year was said to have softened his position following email correspondence with Cumberbatch. Well, who wouldn’t?
