After the less-than-rapturously received Lindsay Lohan version of Elizabeth Taylor in Liz & Dick, here’s something a bit more like it.

Dominic West and Helena Bonham Carter star in the BBC AMERICA drama Burton and Taylor (arriving this fall), which covers a key period in their fractious relationship. A 1983 revival of Noel Coward’s Private Lives for the Broadway stage that sees them spinning into and out of each other’s orbits with dazzling speed.

And naturally the hair and makeup are immaculate. Here’s a trailer:

A BBC Drama production for BBC Four with BBC AMERICA as co-producer, Burton and Taylor is written by William Ivory (Made in DagenhamGoing for Gold). Executive producer for the BBC is Jessica PopeRichard Laxton (Effie,Him and HerHancock) is the director, with Lachlan MacKinnon (Silent Witness,City of Vice) as producer.
