This might be the very best thing to have emerged in a week of very good things indeed.

As we reported yesterday, Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch were unable to attend the Sherlock panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, due to filming commitments elsewhere, so they each sent in a video clip. Martin’s is lovely, regaling the fans in full Bilbo costume and demanding that they ask awkward questions of the panel – Mark Gatiss, Steven Moffat and Sue Vertue – and scream and pull their hair.

Benedict’s is a long (and very good) gag about how busy he has been over the past few years, with an occasional excursion into a New Zealand accent. Oh, and the actual secret of how Sherlock managed to fall off that building and not die, told with soft toys.
