TCA 2013: BBC AMERICA Shares News About Upcoming Programming
They’ve barely had a chance to catch their breaths from last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, with their news-making panels for Orphan Black and Doctor Who. But BBC AMERICA went full speed ahead at their presentation today (July 25) for the Television Critics Association in Beverly Hills, revealing news and airdates for select programs through Spring 2014.
And notably, they announced major casting for the second season of Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan: Monaghan’s Lord of the Rings co-star, actor Billy Boyd, will be joining him on a voyage back to New Zealand (where LOTR was filmed) when the adventure series returns in 2014.
Also, Burton and Taylor, the Dominic West/Helena Bonham Carter vehicle which just bowed in the U.K. to stellar reviews and viewership, will air on BBC AMERICA October 20, and the 13-part fantasy drama series Atlantis will premiere in Supernatural Saturday on November 23, the day of Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary.
Meanwhile, An Adventure in Space and Time, a dramatic film depiction of Doctor Who‘s creation in the ’60s, is locked for a November premiere, while crime drama Ripper Street‘s second season is pitched for Sunday, December 1. And Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond, a “no-holds-barred look” at the James Bond creator played by Dominic Cooper, is currently set for January 2014.
As previously announced, Orphan Black will return for a second season next spring, while a new season of Law & Order: UK hits the airwaves August 7 before the series premiere of Broadchurch.
