Keira Knightley may be following in the footsteps of busy Benedict Cumberbatch, possibly joining the Sherlock star in the film The Imitation Game, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Back in February, Cumberbatch was in talks to take on the role of Alan Turing — an English mathematician, wartime code-breaker and pioneer of computer science — and appears to now be signed on to the project. Turing played a vital role in deciphering the messages encrypted by the German Enigma machine, which provided vital intelligence for the Allies in WWII, reports BBC History.
Knightley is now in talks to to take on the role of a woman who forms a complicated relationship with the scientist and is with him until his tragic end when he is prosecuted by the government for being homosexual.
The project has been in limbo since 2011 but seems to have gotten its legs with the casting process gaining momentum and Morten Tyldum (Headhunters) confirmed to direct.
Knightley was most recently seen in Anna Karenina.
