Sam Taylor-Johnson Considering ‘A Reliable Wife’

Sam Taylor-Johnson is in talks to direct the film adaptation of Robert Goolrick’s bestselling novel A Reliable Wife, reports Deadline Hollywood.
While the film is still in the beginning stages, it has a script written by Andrew Kevin Walker in place. The title may be misleading, this isn’t a story about a Stepford-like wife by any means.
The thriller takes place in 1909 Wisconsin where Ralph Truitt, a successful businessman, places a newspaper ad looking for “a reliable wife.” We meet him waiting on a train platform waiting for the arrival of his Chicago-born bride who turns out to be a schemer with a dark past. Truitt seems to be a bit of a “catfish” himself, so the two make a pair.
This story is eerily modern when thinking about strangers meeting online after placing or answering an ad and possibly entering into a borderline dangerous situation.
If Sam Taylor-Johnson signs on, does that mean we also get her actor husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy)? They are a package deal, right? Alright, that’s just wishful thinking.
