23-year-old British actress Juno Temple, who was one of the “It girls” at this year’s Sundance Film Festival with three films in the lineup, is excited by the prospect of playing the Queen’s late sister Princess Margaret in a forthcoming movie.
According to Temple the planned film, called Girls’ Night Out, hasn’t yet got its financing in place. It reportedly tells the fictional story of Princess Margaret and the Queen in 1945 when they went out into the streets of London unrecognized to celebrate the end of World War II.
When Juno Temple is asked about being cast as Princess Margaret she says: “I think that would be a really exciting challenge — and a huge honor to play someone like that.”
It is perhaps a surprising choice for the actress because up until now her roles have been largely non-mainstream characters. She made a big impression in last year’s noir thriller Killer Joe playing a young temptress.
Temple points out that Princess Margaret was a bit of a maverick. “I think she was definitely the naughty one,” she says.
The actress appears to be game for any challenge. She says: “I think it’s important to be open to everything.”
So far in her career she’s been very adventurous, and it appears to be paying off. She’s won some very good reviews for her work and her output has been prolific: she has appeared in nearly 20 films in the last four years.
