Ricky Gervais Starring Opposite Kermit the Frog

Ricky Gervais (The Office) has been palling around with Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy in London this past month having landed the lead role in the latest Muppet film, The Muppets … Again!, reports BBC News.
Gervais, as he typically does, takes a dig at himself saying, “Luckily I can sing, I’m not bad actually, I’m a failed pop star so I can sing.” By the way, he’s not joking about being a former pop star. Well, he said “failed” to be exact.
He goes on to discuss his dancing abilities, or lack of abilities, saying,”But dancing, it fills me with dread and I have to sing and dance in this, I mean do some proper Hollywood numbers.”
Well, he’s the main lead in terms of actual people but of course Kermit and Miss Piggy are “the” leads. Gervais recognizes this adding, “I’m pretty sure people are going to be watching [Kermit] the frog.”
Oh Ricky, you’re such a “muppet”! Actually, for all you Anglos who love British/American word play … “muppet” is a playful British term for someone who is being a goofball.
Director James Bobin describes what audience members can expect in a statement saying,”It’s a tip of the hat to the old-school crime capers of the ’60s, but featuring a frog, a pig, a bear and a dog – no panthers, even pink ones – along with the usual Muppet-y mix of mayhem, music and laughs.”
The fabulous Tina Fey (30 Rock) and Ray Liotta (Goodfellas) have recently joined the cast with the film scheduled to be released in March 2014.
Do you think Ricky, Miss Piggy and Kermit make a good team?
