A new lady will cozy up to Idris Elba in the third installment of the acclaimed Dramaville detective miniseries Luther. British actress Sienna Guillory has been cast as Mary Day, described as a worker in a vintage clothes shop who meets DCI John Luther (Elba) “in a chance encounter.”
Guillory, best known for her roles in Resident Evil and Love Actually, says, “You realize why Luther is so good when you read Neil Cross’ scripts, and then you meet Idris and understand what ‘untamed’ means. There is no other set I’d rather be on, and I love the disastrous fun of being Mary Day, the right girl in the wrong place.”
Idris Elba adds: “I want to thank the fans for waiting so patiently for the new season. We’re thrilled to deliver it to you. Here comes John!”
The third Luther miniseries will find our grizzled detective investigating two conflicting crimes while a ruthless ex-cop attempts to bring Luther down. Warren Brown, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Dermot Crowley, and Michael Smiley are all set to return, with Game of Thrones‘ Lucian Masamati and Parade’s End‘s Ned Dennehy locked in as guest stars. The four-part installment has already begun shooting, and BBC AMERICA will premiere the new episodes in 2013.
