Kate Winslet Meets The Queen
“You can’t go out like that, you’ll catch your death of cold!” Kate and Her Majesty (AP Photo/ John Stillwell/Pool)
Kate Winslet has something to be thankful for today, as she has been awarded a CBE for services to drama by The Queen at Buckingham Palace. Look, we’ve even got a photo of it happening.
And while this isn’t quite the full Kenneth Branagh knighthood yet, it does bode well for future honors.
Speaking to reporters outside Buckingham Palace, Kate said she’d been chatting about her job with Her Majesty, who had asked if it was a satisfying way to make a living: “I said yes, I liked it, but not as much as being a mother. [Motherhood] is the best job.”
And she went on to explain how getting an award like this feels: ”The sense of gravity is enormous and you very much feel you are being acknowledged by the whole country in a way.”
And here she is afterwards, wearing a pigeon’s arm as a safety helmet:
Note: yesyesyes it’s a fascinator, I KNOW…
