In Game of Thrones Fitzgerald plays Selyse Baratheon the wife of Lord Stannis Baratheon. She became his queen after Stannis claimed the Iron Throne. Hermione in The Winter’s Tale is a queen too. Being typecast as a royal isn’t so bad, it could be worse.
The Royal Shakespeare Company describes the story as:
King Leontes has everything a man could want: power, wealth, a loving family and friends. But he is not at peace. Inside he harbours a bitter jealousy that drives him to destroy all he holds dear.
Many years later in a distant country a journey begins that may ultimately heal his pain and reunite his family in Shakespeare’s uplifting tale of reconciliation and forgiveness.
Hermione is the wife of King Leontes and doting mother. She is accused of cheating on the king and thrown into prison, which we’re told she is dead. Or, is she?
