The Hobbit director Peter Jackson has gone out of his way to praise Martin Freeman for his lead role as Bilbo Baggins in the forthcoming film (December 14), reports Total Film.

He describes the Baggins character as someone who, “Really wants to be left alone, to put his feet up in front of a fire. And then suddenly he’s dragged off on an adventure. So there’s a lot of comedic opportunities.”

Jackson compliments Freeman on providing balance, saying, “Martin’s brilliant at juggling the tone, that ability to have one foot in the dramatic world and one in the comedic world.”

Freeman has been very humbled when discussing the forthcoming film which is predicted to be a blockbuster.
