WATCH: Sir Paul McCartney, Motown’s Berry Gordy Playing Piano Together

If you have the slightest knowledge of pop music history, you know this is epic: Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney and Motown founder Berry Gordy, Jr. thumping a piano together, dashing off an impromptu performance of Barret Strong‘s “Money (That’s What I Want),” which Gordy himself co-wrote and the Fab Four later remade.

This jam session/summit of icons occurred at New York’s Steinway Hall last month, at an event to herald the restoration of Motown’s 1877 Steinway grand piano.

The below video even shows the two men engaging in a bit of playful banter. “It’s amazing how you stole my chords and made them better,” Gordy joked.

To which McCartney replied, “True. I’ve been stealing your chords for years.”
