Plan A was to make a film, record an album, and get his name out there. Now that that plan has been implemented, Plan B, the rapper, is now making a “Plan B” in light of his success. Ben Drew, the rapper’s real name, is considering taking a break before jumping into another venture, reports The Press Association.

The Mercury Music Prize nominated performer says, “It does feel like all that hard work has come to something, but I feel like I need a little break, maybe I’ll take the winter off and decide what I’m going to do next.”

Drew is up against acts such as Richard Hawley, The Maccabees and Field Music for the Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize. In the past the prize-winner tended to be the underdog. But, you never know.

Drew recognizes he may be the most well-known name on the nomination list but he followed up with that saying, “You know, it’s good enough to be part of this – my name’s on this list, this album and what this album represents, the fact that it’s U.K. hip-hop and it’s on this list, and I’m the only one there.”

The rapper gave props to fellow Londoner Michael Kiwanuka singing his praise saying, “The one that stood out for me is Michael Kiwanuka. It really, really stood out for me and I wish him all the luck in the world.”

Do you think it’s smart to take some time off in between projects?
