Age: 29
Place of Origin: Mogadishu, Somalia
Sport: Athletics
Events: 5,000m, 10,000m
411: Farah emigrated from his native Somalia to England at the age of eight and now holds five national records, in the 10km road, 5km road, 5,000m indoors and outdoors, and 3,000m indoors. In 2010, he earned double gold at the European Championships for the 5,000m and 10,000m events. Farah is the first British man to run 5,000m in under 13 minutes.
Plans for the Summer Games: “If you look at every major championship a time around 13 minutes usually wins it. So I can definitely win a medal at the worlds next year and at the London Olympics. On my day I know it’s possible.” (The Guardian)
