Britain’s ‘Jersey Shore’ Takes on ‘Downton Abbey’

If Snooki and The Situation moved into Downton Abbey, you can bet that the Dowager Countess would have a few choice words to deliver about it.

We would love to hear her reaction (or Maggie Smith’s) to cast members of Geordie Shore dressing up in Downton Abbey-ish duds for a magazine photo shoot. Geordie Shore is the UK clone of Jersey Shore.

Geordie Shore began airing in 2011 on England’s MTV channel. The popular reality show is set in Newcastle upon Tyne and features a cast of attractive underachievers given to excessive tanning, drinking and hooking up. In other words, it’s Jersey Shore across the pond.

For the latest issue of Now, a British weekly tabloid magazine, Geordie cast members amused themselves and fans by dressing up as if they had all joined Downton Abbey, the period drama that has proved a hit in both the U.K. and U.S.
