The Brit List: Summer of London – Music
Hot Chip
Style: Indietronica
Members: Alexis Taylor, Joe Goddard, Owen Clarke, Felix Martin, Al Doyle, Sarah Jones, Rob Smoughton
What’s The Story: London-based Hot Chip lace their electro beats with elements of R&B and Hip Hop, creating a sound that sets the band apart from the ever-growing electronic/techno/dance scene.
Video Pick: These guys have been known to produce some pretty bizarre (but brilliant) music videos. Their promo for their 2010 single “I Feel Better” is one of the strangest, most hilarious videos I’ve ever seen. Seriously. Take a look.
What’s New: Their fifth studio album In Our Heads will be released June 11th 2012. The band continues to demonstrate their incredible sense of humor with their latest video, “Night & Day”, directed by Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead, Whitechapel). If you thought the previous video was super weird, wait ‘til you see this one:
The boys will be touring the states this summer in select cities.
For Fans Who Like: LDC Soundsystem, Daft Punk
Recommended Track: “Ready for The Floor.” Another brilliant song with a brilliant video.
