BBC America viewers know him as the troubled detective John Luther on the eponymous series that won him a Golden Globe earlier this year. But Londoner Idris Elba has put equal effort into maintaining his booming big-screen career: he appeared in last year’s mega-hit Thor, hit the road alongside Nicolas Cage in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, and now, will play military-trained spaceship captain Janek in Prometheus (out this Friday, June 8), directed by Alien‘s Ridley Scott.
