British superheroes are all the rage during this Summer of London, with Christian Bale reprising Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight Rises and Andrew Garfield taking on Peter Parker in the reboot The Amazing Spider-Man. What are John Barrowman‘s thoughts on Garfield replacing Tobey Maguire in the Spidey series? Certainly, Mr. Barrowman can speak with some authority on this topic, having played a superhero for many years as Captain Jack on Doctor Who and Torchwood.

And where there’s a Barrowman, there’s going to be a wink and a nudge. So just watch this clip and grin:

You may recall that Mr. Garfield has a Doctor Who connection: he appeared in the Season 3 episodes, “Daleks in Manhattan” and “Evolution of the Daleks.”

Do you agree with John? What are your thoughts on Andrew Garfield as Spidey, now that you’ve seen trailers?
