Listen: Florence and the Machine Cover ‘Jackson’ With Josh Homme

We have no reason to post this except that “Jackson” is one of the best songs in the history of recorded music and while the Johnny Cash and June Carter version is as definitive as it’s possible to get, it’s a hell of a song to cover. You get a good female singer and a good male singer and they can wail away to their heart’s content without ever spoiling the constant forward thrust of the musical bickering. Plus “we got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout” is an opening line that cannot be bettered.

So here, just because it’s ace, is Florence Welch giving it the full throatal exorcism opposite Josh Homme, from Queens Of The Stone Age.

The duet is part of FloMash’s MTV Unplugged set, which will air on April 21.
