Watch: David Tennant On Playing A ‘Dim-Witted’ Charles Darwin In ‘The Pirates’

Here’s David Tennant talking to SFX about his role in the new Aardman Animations film The Pirates In An Adventure With Scientists, in which he plays Charles Darwin. Only it’s not the Charles Darwin we know and admire, the man who wrote Origin Of Species and propounded the theory of evolution. It’s a different kind of Darwin, a pre-genius Darwin, shall we say:

David is joined in the film by Hugh Grant (the Captain), Martin Freeman, Brendon Gleeson, Russell Tovey and Ashley Jensen (his crew), who join up to do battle against Jeremy Piven (the rival captain Black Bellamy) and Salma Hayak (Cutlass Liz), and even Imelda Staunton (Queen Victoria, who hates pirates).
