British boy bands have traditionally been as appetizing to U.S. audiences as Marmite. (After all, why did we need Take That and Boyzone when we already had New Kids on the Block and ‘N Sync?) But, suddenly, prancing gangs of crooners with accents as thick as their calf muscles have become all the rage here, with The Wanted scoring a huge Top 5 hit and Bieber-fied newcomers One Direction releasing their debut album here a week early (by popular demand).
