John Barrowman Builds A Luxury Hotel In The Past, In ‘Gilded Lilys’ Pilot
John Barrowman is putting everything he learned about being a flirtatious time-travelling charmer into his new role, a charming, flirty son-of-a-millionare, back in the past. I know! Talk about range!
In a new pilot for ABC called Gilded Lilys, John plays Julius Ashford Lily, the charmed son of the well-to-do Lily family, who are building the first proper luxury hotel in New York City, in 1895. He’s a loveable rogue, always getting into scrapes and coming out the other side smelling of roses. A slightly less immortal Captain Jack, in other words.
Also on board will be Brian F. O’Byrne, Blythe Danner, Madeline Zima, Matt Lauria, Matt Long, Brigid Brannagh, Maury Sterling and Sarah Bolger. The show was written by Gossip Girl alumnus KJ Steinberg, and executive produced by Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers.
Fingers crossed we get to see the whole series.
