In a seemingly wide-open Oscar season, the BAFTA Film Awards — the UK’s version of the Academy Awards — matter more than ever. If this week’s BAFTA nominations are any indication, the French silent film The Artist should be in for a huge Oscar night. That film scored big with 12 nominations, with Brit favorite Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy just behind at 11. The BAFTA Film Awards will air Sunday, February 12 at 8 pm ET on BBC America.
