Spoiler Alert: The Future of the Ponds on ‘Doctor Who’
So Steven Moffat made a major announcement concerning the next season of Doctor Who at last night’s UK premiere screening of the Christmas special, The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe. And it’s a doozy. And to use the oft-invoked River Song quote, “Spoilers.”
Moffat says, “The final days of the Ponds are coming during the next series. Then the Doctor will meet a new friend.”
Matt Smith tells BBC News, “We had the most incredible journey. We took over the show and we’ve really had to hold hands and help each other through it.
“So it’s very disappointing, but one has to remember that this show is about change and regeneration, and that’s what galvanizes it and pushes it forwards.”
Yep, as all Whovians know, Doctor Who has change ingrained in its DNA, and we’ve seen beloved companions come and go. (How many of us wept at the departures of No. 9, No. 10, Rose, Martha, Donna, etc?) But what are your thoughts on this news? How would you like to see Amy and Rory make their farewell? And who should the next companion be? Tell us below.
