Let’s be clear, it’s a big enough planet for there to be two adaptations of the work of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in progress at the same time, and for both of them to be great in their own way.

If you want maddening genius, bickering and a forensic mind which has developed at the expense of other skills, such as basic human charm and tact, you’ll want Benedict Cumberbatch and the BBC series, which is coming soon.

If you want explosions, charisma, fighting, AND maddening genius and bickering, it’s the Robert Downey Junior/Jude Law adaptation, as directed by Guy Ritchie. Each has their place.

With that in mind, here’s the trailer for Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows, with a few explanatory comments from Messrs Law, Ritchie, and Junior:
