We here at Anglophenia have been watching the Doctor Who movie brouhaha – or br-WHO-haha – just like the rest of you.

We’ve seen the report, originally from Variety, that Harry Potter director David Yates has been tapped to begin planning the movie.  And we’ve also seen this statement, directly from BBC Worldwide: “A Doctor Who feature film remains in development with BBC Worldwide Productions in Los Angeles. As of yet there is no script, cast or production crew in place.”

This may come as a surprise to some of you – though it shouldn’t – but the mystery remains even for us at Anglophenia. We’re just spectators like everyone else. What we can say is that we’re totally psyched about the prospect of a Doctor Who movie, no matter when (or if) one gets made. And if someone does bring the longest-running science fiction television series to the big screen, the man behind some of the better the Harry Potter films certainly seems to have the chops to bring it off.

But WHO-ever is making it, we’ll be there.
