The final entry in our series of Five Nerdist Podcasts That Shook the World is a tough one to choose, but we’re going with the live podcast from July 23 of this year at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con with Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith and Karen Gillan (and Wil Wheaton), because… well, when you’ve been doing a little podcast in little rooms all over the place for a year-and-a-half, and then you’re in a big club with 800 listeners and you’ve got the Doctor and Amy there and Wil and a homemade Steven Moffat Muppet and BBC America burritos for everyone, and it’s a Who-meets-Trek lovefest, it’s like Chris wrote in the original post for the podcast: “THIS. EPISODE. RULES.”
The success of that show and the episode later that evening with the RiffTrax guys, Judah Friedlander, and Kevin Pereira has spawned a tour of live Nerdist Podcast shows, coming soon to New York, Portland, Washington, and Northampton, Massachusetts, with more to follow. There’s information, including links for ticket sales, at Nerdist.com.
Of course, the next Podcast that Shook the World isn’t quite a podcast, it’s a TV show, and it’ll air Saturday — tomorrow! — the 24th on BBC America at 10/9c, with Matt Smith and Craig Ferguson on hand. And join us at Nerdist.com as we keep trying to shake the world one podcast and post at a time.
See outtakes from The Nerdist, premiering Saturday, September 24 at 10/9c on BBC America.
