Which guy is the ultimate Anglophile fan favorite of 2011? Colin Firth or Sean Bean? David Tennant or Damian Lewis? Ricky Gervais or Simon Pegg?
The choice is yours: we’re pitting 32 of Britain’s (and a couple of Ireland’s) most popular male TV and movie stars against each in a battle for supremacy.
And we’re doing it tournament style: each week you’ll vote for winners in a set of matchups, whittling down the field until there is one man standing — the Champion.
Rally the troops, lobby your fanbases — there’s a title on the line! (We’ll cover the Women of 2011 later this year.) Round 1 voting ends Thursday at 11 am ET.

These polls will get tighter and tighter as they go on. I believe it’s half the fun and it’s a contest where nobody dies or gets bloody. Please bring on round 2.

For those of you who think you can only vote once, you’re wrong. Someone said Matthew’s fans should mobilize their troops against the Armitage Army? Perhaps we don’t want to stoop so low and have more important things to do. I like both actors very much and neither of them deserves to have fans who are so petty.

I wonder, Cellisticone, how you would know that one can vote more than once unless you did it yourself. Those running the poll must not care one way or another since there are ways of disallowing multiple votes.
And if ‘mobilizing troops’ is beneath you, than this poll is beneath you, since that is precisely what the creator of the poll said for fans to do in the introduction. I quote: “Rally the troops, lobby your fanbases — there’s a title on the line!”

I’m really surprised not to see Tom Felton and/or Jason Isaacs on here! Felton has actually been a bit more active in other movies than Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, and is an excellent actor. Jason Isaacs is just an incredible actor and extremely handsome and hot to boot. Very glad to see David Tennant and Alan Rickman here… they are just outstanding!
