WATCH: Rachel Weisz in ‘The Whistleblower’ Trailer
Rachel Weisz in 'The Whistleblower'
In The Whistleblower, Academy Award-winning actress Rachel Weisz portrays Kathryn Bolkovac, a real-life Nebraska police officer who travels to post-war Bosnia as a peacekeeper. As Deadline reports, “her hopes of helping rebuild the country are dashed when she sees rampant sex-trafficking activity, and apathy or worse among government officials who turn a blind eye to what is going on.”
The Larysa Kondracki-directed docudrama, which opens nationwide August 5, features a solid UK list of actors, including Vanessa Redgrave, Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, Liam Cunningham (Clash of the Titans, Outcasts), David Hewlett (Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis), and Luke Treadaway (Killing Bono). Monica Bellucci and David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck) also star.
