Fred Armisen (as the Queen), Sir Elton John, and Bill Hader (as Prince Philip)

“The b**** it back!” an enthusiastic Sir Elton John shouted as he took the Saturday Night Live stage on Saturday night (April 2).

In what was the 64-year-old English rocker’s first appearance (and musical performance) on NBC’s long-running comedy show since 1982, John looked to be having a blast embracing his comical side throughout the majority of the show, where he highlighted his new dad humor during the opening monologue and donned some sparkly duds as a gay cowboy in “The Old West.”

And John’s stint wouldn’t be complete without a touch of Englishness, right? “Knights of the Realm” spoofed “British celebrities who have been knighted by the Queen” in an attempt to save London from a dragon’s wrath, Tom Hanks even showed up as Sir Michael Caine. But the best had to be “Elton Visits the Queen,” which saw the “Tiny Dancer” singer, Bill Hader as Prince Philip and Fred Armisen as Queen Elizabeth duking it out over what music to play at Prince William‘s wedding reception. Um, what would Johnny Rotten think?
