SuBo Turns the Big 5-0

It’s been nearly two years since the world was introduced to a charming Scottish lady with a very big singing voice: Susan Boyle. And today (April 1), the Britain’s Got Talent star celebrates the big 5-0!

The “I Dreamed a Dream” singer — who is currently hard at work on a follow-up to her 2010 chart-topping album, The Gift — will reportedly ring in the occasion surrounded by family and friends in her hometown of Blackburn, West Lothian, Scotland. A few celebrity pals like Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Scottish actress/comedian Elaine C. Smith of Rab C. Nesbitt fame are rumored to be attending her birthday bash as well. Cowell did, however, already extend his sincere birthday wishes to the Scottish singing sensation and called her “an amazing lady.”

But how does SuBo feel about turning 50? “There’s not much I can do it about, but I’m absolutely looking forward to my birthday,” a dressed-down Boyle told BBC News on Thursday (March 31).

And what about gifts? Does the birthday girl want anything special? A modest Boyle chimed, “What do you get the girl who has everything?”

Last year, Boyle purchased a five-bedroom home in Blackburn, but that as extravagant as it gets. She’s maintained that it’s important to keep a balance when it comes to spending money. According to The Sun, she’s since splurged on getting an iPod and an iPhone 4.
