If the newly released poster is any indication, Torchwood: Miracle Day looks to be an explosive event.

Just two weeks after BBC America announced its premiere date and poster for the new season of Doctor Who, Starz has revealed the launch date and art for Russell T Davies‘s eagerly awaited fourth season of the Who spin-off. Torchwood: Miracle Day is set to premiere July 8. Bill Pullman, Mekhi Phifer, and an international cast will join stars John Barrowman and Eve Myles for the 10-episode arc.

BBCA couldn’t be bothered to pony up the cash for it. Why have new sci-fi when you can have 25-year old reruns of Star Trek instead?

I agree with Brian-Star Trek reruns instead of Torchwood! This is BS! You are gonna lose sooo many viewers because of your switch to Starz! It will probably only get this one “arc” and then die off unless picked up on a station many of us actually get (ie. BBCA or SyFy) I don’t pay for Starz now, won’t be paying for it to watch 1 show (even though I’d probably love it). What’s that Stossel guy’s saying-”Give me a BREAK!”

Oh so Sad!!! I love, love, love Torchwood, but I can’t get Starz and I can’t make it cost-effective for one show that may not make it since the majority of the fans won’t be able to purchase Starz, either. This is all orchestrated by big business to try to make more money. BBCA should have held on to it, just as it was. We’re a much more appreciative audience, we were growing, and we consider it an insult for our loyalty to be ignored. Starz just saw a chance to bring more paying customers onto their site. What they don’t care about in today’s economy, if we don’t have the money, we don’t have the money.

LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. AT $13 EXTRA A MONTH PLUS $4 FOR TAXES, I WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE DVD TO WATCH THE NEW SEASON. TOO BAD. I REALY LIKE TORCHWOOD. STARZ HAS TOO MANY REPEATS FOR ME TO PAY EXTRA FOR 5 CHANNELS.

Like others, I’ll have to wait for DVD. Can’t afford a premium channel addition to already expensive satellite monthly bill. BBCA you dropped the ball on this one. Highly disappointed.
