‘Skins’ Star Nicholas Hoult Nabs Lead in Zombie Film ‘Warm Bodies’
Nicholas Hoult
Who is he, the male Carey Mulligan? Nicholas Hoult, Tony on the original UK Skins, just keeps on lining up major roles. He’s playing Beast in this June’s X Men: First Class, he’s been cast as the lead in the upcoming Jack the Giant Killer, and he’s still set to start shooting that long-delayed Mad Max film.
Now he’s poised to capitalize on the current zombie craze with yet another high profile part. According to Deadline, Hoult has captured the “coveted” lead role in Summit’s Warm Bodies, an adaptation of Isaac Merton‘s novel. Jonathan Levine (The Wackness) has written the script and will direct. In the film, Hoult will play “an existentially tormented zombie who begins an unlikely friendship with the girlfriend of one his victims, and it starts a chain reaction that transforms him and perhaps will do the same for his fellow zombies and maybe the whole lifeless world.” The Hollywood Reporter bills the film as “Twilight meets Shaun of the Dead.”
