Ricky Gervais to Return to ‘The Office’ for Season Finale
Ricky Gervais on NBC's 'The Office'
He’s back. After his brief but massively acclaimed cameo opposite Steve Carell back in January, Ricky Gervais is set to appear on The Office‘s seventh season finale, reports Entertainment Weekly. The former star of the original UK Office will be joined by Will Arnett in an episode that, well, has yet to be written. So anything can happen, folks. The one-hour season ender will air on May 19, and “there will be other notable guest stars as well,” according to EW. (Will Ferrell has already been locked in for the final four episodes.) The magazine’s sources add that “one shouldn’t assume” that either Gervais or Arnett will be replace the departing Carell as the next Dunder Mifflin boss.
Fans expecting another meet-cute between David Brent and Michael Scott will be disappointed: Steve Carell is set to exit stage left at the end of April, reportedly with four episodes remaining in the season. Damn, missed opportunity for a Brent/Scott dance-off.
