Notify Your Next of Kin: ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ Picked Up By Logo

By Kevin Wicks | Posted on March 24th, 2011

Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders

Patsy and Edina have probably inspired almost as many drag queens as Cher and Liza, so it’s remarkably fitting that they’ll be joining RuPaul and the gals on Logo. Today (March 24), the LGBT-focused cable channel announced that they’ve acquired the full five seasons of Absolutely Fabulous, the BAFTA-winning sitcom starring Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley as boozy besties. (BBCA viewers will be familiar…it ran on the network for many years. It originally aired on the BBC from 1992 to 1996 and from 2001 to 2004. )

“When it comes to ‘OMFG’ television, AbFab raises the bar with its notorious, hard-partying duo Patsy and Edina,” says Marc Leonard, Logo’s SVP of Multiplatform Programming, via press release.  “This irreverent series about the ultimate anti-heroes changed the comedy genre and fits beautifully with Logo’s fierce programming.”

The show will premiere on Logo with a weekend-long marathon starting Saturday, April 16th at 2 pm EST, subsequently moving to a Thursdays at 10 pm timeslot.
