Lucy Griffiths, Marian from ‘Robin Hood,’ Lands Lead in Zombie Drama

Lucy Griffiths in 'Robin Hood'

It’s fitting that Maid Marian is leading the charge of the British Invasion of pilot season: Robin Hood star Lucy Griffiths becomes the umpteenth UK-based star to score a major TV part. As Deadline reports, she has won the lead in the CW zombie drama Awakening. The series depicts the story of two zombie sisters vying against one another at the start of “a zombie uprising.” Griffiths plays one of the sisters, who just so happens to also be a New York attorney.

Griffiths was a fan favorite on Robin Hood, the center of a heated love triangle between the heroic Robin (Jonas Armstrong) and the dastardly Guy of Gisborne (Richard Armitage). While Marian and Robin were the more conventionally “rootable” couple, Griffiths and Armitage shared some smoldering chemistry, as seen in this scene:

In related news, Deadline is reporting that Brit actor Joe Anderson (Across the Universe) has earned the lead in ABC’s “horror thriller” The River, and his compatriot, Lark Rise to Candleford star Ben Aldridge, has been cast as the “male lead” of the CW’s Heavenly, which sounds like a slightly less saccharine Touched By an Angel. Hollywood continues to greedily tap into Britain’s talent pool…
