L.A. Reid to Judge Simon Cowell’s ‘X Factor’? Enrique Iglesias Asked to Host?
Simon Cowell
Looks like Simon Cowell‘s judging panel for the U.S. X Factor is coming together. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Island Def Jam mogul Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid will be one of the four judges on the Fox version of the popular British talent competition. “It’s a done deal,” sources say. If Reid is indeed a panelist, that leaves Cowell as head judge and two other slots to be filled.
Back on March 3, Cowell revealed other stars in contention for spots on the panel. The list included George Michael, Nicole Scherzinger, Mariah Carey, and his former American Idol cohort Paula Abdul. (Cheryl Cole‘s chances appear to be dimming, if recent reports are to be believed.) An announcement on the full panel is expected within the coming days.
A name that hasn’t been on anyone’s lips is Enrique Iglesias. In a move that might have many out there saying, “WTF?,” the Latin pop star was approached, not to judge, but to host the American X Factor, according to Deadline‘s Nellie Andreeva. But Andreeva says, “[W]ith his latest album Euphoria doing well and his most recent single, ‘Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You),’ peaking at #1 on the U.S. Pop Songs Chart earlier this month, he is reportedly leaning towards sticking with his music career full-time.”
If L.A. Reid has already snagged a spot on the X Factor panel, who should fill the remaining two positions?
