Florence and the Machine Singer Will Replace Dido at Oscars

Florence Welch

Florence and the Machine is nominated for a much-deserved Grammy this year. Next stop: Oscars! According to BBC News, fire-haired frontwoman Florence Welch will perform Academy Award-nominated track “If I Rise,” originally sung by Dido for the 127 Hours soundtrack, live at the February 27 ceremony. The Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire) will join Welch for the performance. That’s not all: E!’s Marc Malkin is reporting that Florence is also slated to sing at Elton John and David Furnish‘s big yearly Oscar bash.

Dido reportedly already had plans for the night. Pity, y’all.

Here’s Dido’s version of “If I Rise.” Florence will kill this.
