Ricky Gervais on NBC's 'The Office'
It was blink-or-you-missed-it, but man was it classic: as previously reported, infamous Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais brought his David Brent from the original British comedy, The Office, to the NBC version last night (January 27). The newly svelte Mr. Brent emerges from an elevator only to run into his American counterpart, Michael Scott (Steve Carell), who immediately mocks David’s British accent.
But the two bumbling bosses find that they are kindred spirits, trading opinions on politically incorrect comedy. “Comedy is a place where the mind goes to tickle itself,” David Brent muses. It’s a funny bit, and as darrenwriter told me last night on Twitter, “It was kinda melancholy too.” Watch the clip:
