Today’s UK Twitter Trends: Melanie Phillips, Andy Gray, Richard Keys
What’s trending on Twitter in the UK today? Here are the big topics of discussion:
Melanie Phillips. Many in the Twitter community are responding to Daily Mail reporter Melanie Phillips’ latest article, entitled “Gay victims of prejudice risk becoming the new McCarthyites,” claims that Britain is now being run by the “gay agenda”. The article alleges that homosexuality is now having an effect on everything from school subjects to drug policies.
Andy Gray, Richard Keys. Sky football presenters Andy Gray and Richard Keys are also trending after being recorded making sexist comments about assistant referee Sian Massey’s knowledge of off-side rules during a match this weekend. In addition, Keys criticized West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady’s recent statements on sexism in football. The pair have issued a public apology to both Massey and Brady.
