Today’s UK Twitter Trends: National Television Awards
What’s trending on Twitter in the UK today? Award Season continues with the England’s annual National Television Awards.
With all this Oscar buzz going on, many Americans may have missed Britain’s National Television Awards last night (January 26). Begun in 1995, the NTAs are voted on by the general public and so the awards are for “Most Popular” instead of “Best”. The one award that seems to have everyone talking is Waterloo Road beating out both Doctor Who and Sherlock for Most Popular Drama. Other winners include Top Gear for Most Popular Factual Program, The Inbetweeners for Digital Choice, and EastEnders for Most Popular Serial Drama.
@gmp24_0: “We’re letting the prisoners watch the #NTAs. The fact that Waterloo Road beat Doctor Who and Sherlock are making them riot. Thanks, #NTAs.”
@gabbie109: “We wuz robbed! #NTAS, phooey on you. Doctor Who rules!”
@valuetrophyinfo: “Television triumphs: ‘EastEnders’ take top awards at star-studded NTAs”
@jephjonez: “wonders what Waterloo Road is, and how it could possibly beat Sherlock? #ntas Sherlock rocked!”
@Galway16: “Inbetweeners beat Glee at NTAS!! lololololololol :)”
