Ricky Gervais to Reprise Hosting Duties on ‘The Simpsons’?
Ricky Gervais
Ricky Gervais may have ruffled Hollywood’s feathers (and then some) during his recent Golden Globes hosting gig, but his MC days aren’t over.
According to The Metro, the British funnyman will portray an “awards host” in a new episode of The Simpsons entitled “Angry Dad: The Movie.” In the show, Homer and Bart take home an Oscar “for an animated short film they made.” It’s slated to air in the U.S. on February 20th.
This isn’t the first time Gervais has paid a visit to Springfield. He first appeared on the long-running cartoon sitcom back in 2006 when he wrote and co-starred in “Homer Simpson, This Is Your Wife”. Does “Lady In Blue” ring a bell? The episode spoofed reality TV hit, Wife Swap, and Gervais’ character of Charles paid tribute to Marge in song.
Currently in their 22nd season, The Simpsons has featured a handful of Brits in recent months, including Hugh Laurie and Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, who both lent their voices to the “Treehouse of Horror XXI” Halloween special. Pseudonymous graffiti artist Banksy left his imprint all over the “MoneyBART” episode last October.
