Gerard Butler, Robert Pattinson Up For Razzies

Gerard Butler

While Hollywood pats itself on the back with awards this season, the Golden Raspberries (a.k.a. Razzies) are here to bring the industry back down to Earth for all the trash it foists upon us on yearly basis. Today (January 24) the Razzies have released their 2010 nominations. Thankfully, our UK stars are more responsible for the good – see Leah Rozen’s post on British Oscar hopefuls – than the bad this year.

But the Brits did not go unscathed by the Razzies: Gerard Butler, voted one of the Top 5 Hottest Actors of 2010, has the ignominious distinction of two nominations this year. He’s up for Worst Actor for his role as the title character in the much-panned romantic comedy, The Bounty Hunter, co-starring Jennfier Aniston. In addition, Aniston and Butler are mentioned in the Worst Screen Couple/Ensemble category. (Both Aniston and the film itself were also singled out in Worst Actress and Worst Film fields, respectively.)

Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson scoops up his second straight Razzie nod. This year, he’s “honored” in the Worst Actor category for both Twilight: Eclipse and the 9/11 weeper, Remember Me.

And sadly, Skins and Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel‘s participation in M. Night Shyamalan‘s The Last Airbender has resulted in a Worst Supporting Actor nomination. Don’t worry, my man: last year, Sandra Bullock picked up a Worst Actress award for All About Steve just a day before grabbing her Oscar for The Blind Side. There is hope for redemption!
